Birth Doula Agreement

Our role is to provide emotional & informational support, suggest and perform physical comfort measures and to reassure you and your partner before during and after the birth of your baby. We will make suggestions as your birthing progresses and help with relaxation, massage, birthing positions and offer other techniques to provide comfort. We will advocate for you however, we will not make decisions for you. We will support any choices you make for your birth. We work for you, not your care provider or your hospital (if applicable), WE DO NOT perform any clinical tasks.

We will provide an initial virtual visit, the number of visits for the duration of your pregnancy will be determined during our initial visit. You will have continued access to us through phone and email. In between our prenatal visits, we encourage you to connect any time you have questions or concerns and after visits with your care provider. Please note that important birthing information is not to be shared via text message, it is always best to call with pertinent information.

One of us will be with you during your birth. Should your birthing time become extended, we will be replaced by one another so that you have refreshed and energized support. *Except in extraordinary circumstances, we will remain with you throughout your birth. After your birth we generally remain with you to help with initial feeding, and until you are comfortable and ready for some quiet time. Our postpartum visits will be arranged at a mutually agreeable time and if you would like extended postpartum support we can discuss this and make further arrangements.

If you plan a vaginal birth and a cesarean birth is how your baby arrives, we will continue to provide support during your cesarean birth (as allowed by hospital/surgical team policies) as well as immediately after to help with your comfort and feeding. We will follow-up with you after your birth, as we do with all our clients. In this scenario, the full fee applies, and no refund will be given. If for medical reasons, you end up scheduling a cesarean birth, we will support you during your birth as well as immediately after to help with your comfort and feeding as allowed by hospital/surgical team and recovery room protocols. In this scenario, the full fee applies and no refund will be given.

Failure to provide service; we make every attempt to provide the services outlined here. If we do not attend your birth due to circumstances beyond anyone’s control, you will be refunded a portion of the fee. If failure to attend your birth is due to you not contacting me, you will not be reimbursed.

Fees: The total cost for birth doula services is $1600.
A retainer fee of half is due with this contract upon hire. The remaining fee is due when you are 37 weeks.
